This song is well worth a listen, audio only.

Out of all that is happening, lots of event cancellations, there is a definite positive.

After years of trying to promote Spring Harvest at Christ Church here is your chance to experience, though really not the same as being in the Big Top praising God with hundreds of others.

We are so excited to announce the launch of Spring Harvest Home, available online via YouTube from April 13th to 17th. We are all disappointed that we can’t join together as one Spring Harvest family this year, but the team here have been working really hard to adapt and deliver the heart of Spring Harvest… direct to your living room!

Spring Harvest Homeis a completely free online conference programme with content suitable for everyone in the family. Lined up for the week after Easter, we have some amazing material all built around the 2020 theme of “Unleashed – The Acts Church Today“.Never has there been a more appropriate time for usto gather together as a community to worship, learn, laugh and pray together.

Palm Sunday is the 29th March, this coming Sunday. Do you have last years cross? Why not stick it in your window. Show that the Lord is riding in.

Palm Sunday coming up

Palm Sunday 5th April

Do you have your palm cross from last year, if not why not make one. Then put it in your window, remind people the Lord is riding in. How will we greet him? Would we rush to put our coats on the ground, would we cheer or would we stand back and watch. how would we feel? Excited, curious, expectant, apprehensive, impassive, bewildered? Shame we can’t wave palm branches outside the church this year, but that shouldn’t stop us praising our God.

An excerpt from ‘Gospel in Life’ Youtube video with Tim Keller’

To quote – “We’ve all been shocked by the rapid developments regarding the Coronavirus. As we do our best to navigate these uncertain times together, we invite you to join others for a special talk by Dr. Timothy Keller on how we can find ‘Peace in Times of Suffering and Uncertainty.'”

Wednesday service readings and discussion

On a Wednesday morning we have Holy Communion, as part of the service we discuss the two bible readings of the day and draw out why they are put together, what is their significance then and now, and finally what do we take away from them for our lives. Tomorrow 01/04 the readings are: – Daniel 3:14-20,24-25, 28 & John 8:31-42. Have a read, reflect, then why not feed back on the blog page under ‘Bible Discussion’. Hope to hear from you.

The ongoing Lent Course

This week (1st & 2nd April) would have been the final session, a chance to evaluate the sessions together, to ask ‘What has changed’ and a ‘Call to action’, what does it mean for us? Why not use the Blog page to give feed back under Bible Discussion.

Session 5 – Peter denies knowing Christ

Session 4 – Jesus Prays

THE BIBLE APP (You Version) (Free) – Zillions of Bible version for you to use or listen to, David Suchet reading from the NIV (very calming). On iPad or phone, at home or in the church. Also themed readings to choose from.

CHURCH of ENGLAND LENT RESOURCES (Free) – Daily devotional by email. This years theme – ‘Care for God’s creation’. Go to https://www.churchofengland.org/our-faith/living-out-our-faith/lent-holy-week-and-easter/livelent-care-gods-creation

REFLECTIONS FOR DAILY PRAYER (£12.99) For every day of the week except on Sundays – when we are likely to be in listening to a sermon – there is a reflection on one of the readings from the service.

These are written by a wide range of contributors from across the Anglican church including both Bishop Stephen and Bishop John – so plenty of different approaches and styles. It also provides guidance for ways to approach the scriptures.
